The short answer
Yes, we install wallpaper in Golden Glades, about 7 miles northeast of Hialeah. Projects can happen year-round, but we plan around the humid wet season and hurricane season so paper goes up in stable conditions.
Golden Glades is roughly 7 miles northeast of our Hialeah base, in the northern part of Miami-Dade County between North Miami, Miami Gardens and Opa-locka. Homes here include single-family houses, duplexes and apartment buildings, many of them built with concrete block. Because wallpaper is so sensitive to moisture and temperature, the time of year you schedule a project can matter almost as much as the paper you choose. South Florida has no fully dry season, but the calendar still has patterns, and planning around them makes for a smoother install and a finish that lasts. This page walks through the year from a wallcovering point of view, and then covers the services we offer in Golden Glades.
November through April: the easier months
From November into April the weather is warmer and drier, with fewer afternoon storms and lower humidity. Many homeowners open windows on mild days. For wallpaper, the drier air means paste cures predictably and seams settle without much movement. It is a good window for big projects, such as several rooms, a full stairwell or a large mural, and for jobs that include heavy wall repair, because joint compound dries faster too.
If you open the house up during these months, close it again on install day and run the AC so the room stays at a steady temperature while we work.
May through October: humid and wet
Starting in May, heat and humidity build and afternoon thunderstorms become frequent. This is still a perfectly workable time to hang wallpaper, as long as the home is air-conditioned and the AC stays on. Paper should rest in the room for a while to adjust to the indoor climate before it is cut.
We pay close attention to exterior walls during these months. After heavy rain, a block wall can hold moisture, and a wall that feels dry to the touch may still read damp on a meter. If it does, we wait or address the source before covering it.
- Moisture readings on exterior and bathroom walls
- Acclimating rolls in the room before cutting
- Moisture-resistant vinyl for baths and laundry rooms
- Steady AC settings during the cure
June 1 to November 30: hurricane season
The Atlantic hurricane season overlaps much of the wet season. Most weeks pass without trouble, but when a storm is forecast, people are busy with shutters and supplies, power may go out and a sealed-up house without AC can turn hot and humid fast. None of that is good for fresh adhesive. If a watch or warning is issued near your date, we will contact you and reschedule. After a storm, we can also help assess walls with water stains and remove damaged wallpaper once the area has dried out.
Services available in Golden Glades
Whatever the month, the core work stays the same: inspect, prep, then hang. We install traditional patterned paper, accent walls, murals, grasscloth, peel and stick paper, ceiling wallpaper and vinyl wallcovering. We remove old paper, including layers that have been painted over, and repair the plaster or drywall underneath. Small businesses, clinics and offices can use our commercial wallcovering service for durable, cleanable walls.
Choosing products for a concrete-block home
Block walls finished with plaster are solid and quiet, but they can feel cool and slightly damp on the inside surface when the AC is running hard against a hot exterior. Breathable non-woven papers suit those walls well. Solid vinyl, which blocks moisture, is ideal in bathrooms but is less suitable on exterior walls where trapped damp could cause mildew behind it. We match the product to the wall, not just to the look you like.
