Mural Wallpaper Installation in Miami Gardens, FL

The short answer

We install printed wallpaper murals in Miami Gardens homes, from kids' rooms to living areas. Accurate wall measurements before ordering, a smooth primed surface and image-matched panel seams are what make a mural look like one continuous picture.

Murals are showing up in more Miami Gardens homes: a jungle scene in a nursery, a sports-themed wall in a teenager's room, a beach horizon in a family room, a moody botanical in a primary suite. The appeal is simple. One wall carries a single, oversized picture that no repeating wallpaper can match. Getting it right takes careful planning, because a mural only works if the image lines up across every panel. We travel about 7 miles from our Hialeah shop to install murals in 33055, 33056 and 33169. Here is what to know, from picking an image to the day it goes up.

Choosing an image that fits the room

Large photographic scenes look most convincing on a wall with few interruptions. A wall with a window in the middle will cut the image in two, so think about whether the scene still makes sense around that opening. Abstract and botanical designs are more forgiving because no single detail has to land in a particular spot.

Scale matters as much as subject. A mural designed for a tall commercial wall can feel crowded in a bedroom with a standard ceiling, while a small design stretched over a long family-room wall may print soft. Ask the seller for a preview at your exact wall size before you order.

  • Kids' rooms: adventure maps, animals, space, sports themes
  • Living rooms: landscapes, ocean horizons, soft abstracts
  • Bedrooms: botanicals, cloudscapes, muted watercolors
  • Home offices: city views or calm textures for video backgrounds

Measuring and ordering correctly

We visit before you order to measure the wall at the floor, middle and ceiling, both across and up. Many homes have a little variation in ceiling height from one end of a wall to the other, which is why we recommend ordering a mural slightly larger than the wall. That extra margin is trimmed away at installation, so the important parts of the image stay where you expect them.

We also note what sits on or in front of the wall. A bed, a dresser or a sectional will cover the bottom third of the image, so a scene with its main focus near the floor may be wasted. Shifting the image upward in the design file solves that, if the printer allows it.

Prep for a smooth image

A mural is unforgiving of a rough wall. Shadows from dents and ridges distort the picture, especially in photographic designs. We patch, sand and prime, and if the wall has noticeable texture we skim coat it first. Primer also controls how fast the paste dries, which helps us slide panels into exact alignment.

In South Florida's humid months, from May through October, we pay extra attention to walls next to exterior doors and to rooms where the air conditioning has been off. Keeping the home cool and dry during the install prevents panels from shrinking back at the seams as they dry.

Installation, panel by panel

Panels come numbered. We lay them out in order, check for printing flaws, and confirm the overlap or butt-join method the printer used. A laser line sets the first panel plumb, and each panel after it is aligned to the image itself. Small adjustments are made while the paste is still workable.

Once the full image is on the wall, we trim the excess at the ceiling, baseboard and side walls, cut out for outlets and switches, and clean the surface. Peel-and-stick murals follow the same layout process but need a smooth, fully cured painted surface to grip.

  • Panel layout and defect check
  • Plumb laser line for the first panel
  • Image-matched seams
  • Trim, cut-outs and cleanup

FAQ

Common questions

Can a mural be custom printed from my own photo?

Yes, many printers offer this. The photo needs to be high resolution for the wall size, otherwise it will look blurry up close. Ask the printer to confirm before you order.

Will a mural work on a textured wall?

Texture shows through and creates shadows in the image. We recommend smoothing the wall with a skim coat for the clearest result.

What happens if a panel is misprinted?

We check every panel before hanging. If one is flawed, we stop so you can request a replacement from the seller before installation.

Can you install a mural around a window?

Yes. We cut around the window opening while keeping the image aligned on both sides, so the scene continues naturally around it.

Is a mural easy to take down?

Non-woven murals over primer usually come off in whole panels. That makes them a good choice for kids' rooms that will change as children grow.
