Wallpaper Installers Serving Opa-locka, FL

The short answer

We install all common wallpaper types in Opa-locka homes, from traditional pre-pasted papers to nonwoven, vinyl and specialty products. The job covers measuring, wall repair, priming, pattern layout and clean trimming, and most rooms take one or two days.

Papering a full room is a different job from dressing up a single wall. Patterns have to run unbroken around corners, across door headers and down into window returns, and every seam has to stay closed in a home that runs its air conditioning for most of the year. Our installers are based in Hialeah, about four miles southwest of Opa-locka, and we hang residential wallpaper throughout the 33054 area: bedrooms, hallways, kitchens, powder rooms, stairwells and whole living spaces.

Start with an honest look at the walls

Houses in Opa-locka range widely in age, and the surface under your paint tells us a lot about how the job will go. Plaster over concrete block is common in older homes and can hide hairline cracks or patches from past repairs. Drywall in remodeled rooms may have flat, glossy paint that adhesive struggles to grab. Some walls still carry a previous wallpaper, sometimes painted over, which we strongly prefer to remove rather than cover.

During our first visit we tap, look closely under raking light and test how the existing paint responds. Then we tell you plainly what prep the room needs, so there are no surprises on installation day.

Matching the paper to the room

Not every paper belongs in every room of a South Florida house. A few rules of thumb we share with Opa-locka homeowners:

  • Kitchens and kids' rooms: scrubbable vinyl or vinyl-coated paper that tolerates wiping
  • Bathrooms: solid vinyl or a nonwoven designed for moisture, paired with a working exhaust fan
  • Bedrooms and living rooms: nonwoven papers that breathe and hang easily, or traditional papers for a softer look
  • Hallways and stairwells: durable surfaces with patterns that hide scuffs, since these walls get brushed constantly
  • Rooms with direct afternoon sun: inks and papers rated for light resistance to slow fading

Layout is where a room is won or lost

Before we hang the first strip, we plan where the pattern will start and end. The final seam in a room almost never matches perfectly, so we place it in the least visible spot, often behind a door or in a corner hidden by furniture. We center large motifs on a fireplace wall, a bed wall or a picture window so the design looks intentional.

Ceilings and corners in older homes are rarely straight. We hang from a plumb line instead of following the trim, and where the ceiling dips, we split the difference so the pattern looks level to the eye. Small decisions like these are what make a papered room look professionally done.

Keeping seams tight in Miami-Dade weather

Summer brings heavy humidity and frequent afternoon thunderstorms, and hurricane season stretches from June 1 through November 30. Paper hung on a damp or freshly patched wall, or in a room where the AC was just turned on after sitting off, can shrink as it dries and open at the seams. We acclimate the rolls in the room, confirm that patches are fully dry, and use a primer and adhesive matched to the paper.

After installation, keeping the house cooled at a steady temperature is the single most helpful thing you can do. If the AC must be off for an extended stretch, such as during an outage, opening interior doors to keep air moving helps the walls dry evenly.

What installation day looks like

We arrive with drop cloths, ladders, tables and tools, and set up a cutting station away from your furniture. Outlet covers come off, walls get their final prep and primer if not done earlier, and hanging begins at the planned starting point. As each wall is finished we trim, clean the paste from the surface and check the seams. At the end, covers go back on, debris is bagged and the room is ready for you.

FAQ

Common questions

Can you hang wallpaper I already purchased?

Yes. Share the brand and pattern name so we can check the roll size, repeat and hanging instructions before your appointment.

Do you install pre-pasted wallpaper?

We do. Pre-pasted papers still benefit from proper priming, and in some cases we add a thin activator or paste for a stronger bond.

How long does a full room take?

A typical bedroom or living room takes one to two days, depending on wall condition, number of openings and the complexity of the pattern.

Should I paint the trim before or after?

Before is better. Painting trim afterward risks getting paint on the new paper, so finish trim and ceiling paint first whenever possible.

Can wallpaper go on the ceiling?

Yes, ceiling installations are possible with lighter papers. They take more time and setup, and we discuss the best paper for overhead work.

What if my walls have old wallpaper?

We usually remove it first. Hanging over old paper can cause bubbling and peeling, especially in a humid climate like ours.
